Dr. Tessa Opie
Dr Tessa Opie, founder and director of inyourskin®, is dedicated to promoting healthy and consensual relationships. With extensive experience as an educator in government, not-for-profit, and private sectors, as well as being a guest lecturer at universities, Tessa brings a wealth of knowledge to her work. She has provided expert advice to Education Departments, including the South Australian Department for Education, the Western Australian Department of Education, and the Northern Territory Department of Education.
In 2018, Tessa co-published a national position paper, as lead author, outlining evidence-based sexuality and relationships education in Australian schools. Her recent publication explores the role of sex-positive education in preventing sexual assault among high school students.
Tessa's expertise was sought in 2019 when she worked as a consultant for a 4-part SBS series, The Hunting. In 2021, Tessa participated in the National Health and Physical Education Curriculum Leaders Forum, where she presented her work on best practice consent education.
Tessa has partnered with Dr Monique Mulholland and Dr Fida Sanjakdar from Monash University to investigate Relationships and Sexuality Education in multicultural classrooms. Additionally, she has collaborated with Mancel College to develop a tailored Relationships and Sexuality Education curriculum for young people with Language Disorder.
Kerrin Bradfield
Kerrin Bradfield, is the founder of the Open Book Project and a passionate advocate for lifelong sexual rights and promoting open conversations about sexuality. They have delivered sexuality education to diverse audiences, ranging from kindergarten students to United Nations staff, reaching tens of thousands of individuals.
With almost a decade of experience in a women's service, Kerrin has extensive knowledge in the intervention and prevention of sexual, domestic, and family violence. They actively work towards improving access to Relationships and Sexuality Education for all individuals, collaborating with policymakers, researchers, and advocacy groups to promote Comprehensive RSE.
Kerrin's expertise extends to addressing technology-facilitated sexual violence, having collaborated with the Queensland Police Service and Match.com (Tinder/Bumble) on a world-first campaign. They are also currently involved in research aimed at enhancing legal, policy, and practice responses to the intersections of domestic violence perpetration and child sexual abuse offending. Additionally, Kerrin has advised the Queensland Department of Education on the consent education rollout and contributed to the development of a national framework for Respectful Relationships Education under the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Girls 2022-2027.
As an respected facilitator at the QLD Police Academy, Griffith University, and QUT, Kerrin shares their knowledge with current and future professionals. They have also served as the National Chairperson of the Society of Australian Sexologists, highlighting their dedication to advancing the field of Sexuality Education, therapy and research.
